Two Minnesota organizations and one national organization offer grants for professional development of their members.

 MMTA Members: Robert Schmitt Professional Development Grant

Minnesota Music Teachers Association Foundation (MMTAF) provides financial assistance for music teachers undertaking projects which enhance their professional development. Funding is provided through a generous gift from Schmitt Music Company.  Applicants must provide a 100% match to funds received through this grant.  For more information go to page 16 of your MMTA Member Handbook.  Application deadline is April 15, 2018. MTNA Members or non-MTNA Members:                                                Teacher Enrichment Grants

PURPOSE: To provide assistance, of up to $750, to music teachers for private study, specific college-level course work or other projects that will enhance the performing and teaching skills of the applicant. Teacher Enrichment Grants support Pillar Two of the MTNA mission: “Sustain the Profession,” by supporting programs/activities designed to “ensure the long-term future of the profession.”  Application deadline is May 1, 2018.

Minnesota Federation of Music Club Members: Teacher Trust Grants

Teacher Trust Grants are sponsored by MFMC as a memorial to Rose Zygmanski.

The Teacher Trust Grant has been set up to assist and encourage active music teachers with financial aid so they may attend workshops, register for university courses, participate in master classes, or take a series of lessons to further enhance their skills and, thus, improve their teaching. It’s official!  The 2018 Music @ 10,000 Lakes Retreat for professional pianists will once again be located at the beautiful campus of St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota.

SAVE THE DATE for our 2nd Annual Retreat:  Sunday August 12 through Wednesday, August 15 is your chance to re-energize your practice and performance skills, and relax at the well appointed St. John’s Abbey Guesthouse and lakeside setting of the St. John’s University Campus.

Music @ 10,000 Lakes is a two-day retreat for professional pianists who wish to practice and perform, new, old, unfinished or polished repertoire for and with their colleagues.   Located on the exquisite lakeside campus of St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, the retreat will additionally afford time and opportunity to meditate, walk the nature trails, read, relax and revitalize.

Practice and performing facilities are on the campus of Saint John’s University. Lodging and meals are available at the St. John’s Abbey Guesthouse.
